A couple weekends ago I took my oldest son to the Klondike Derby, which unfortunately has nothing to do with ice cream bars, but is basically just camping in insanely cold temperatures. We were well-prepared, though, and slept warmly, and I guess as comfortably as one can when camping. There were a few activities, and the kids got to run around on the troop dogsled. I expected a lot more complaining from my son than he dished out, which was nice. He did say that this camp would make all future campouts great by comparison, and that he was more appreciative of his warm home and bed. That’s when I pointed at him and said “Ha! YOU JUST BUILT CHARACTER.” Point, match: Dad.
